I. Product Introduction

is transduced through Smad and nonSmad pathways.
TGF-β signalling is transduced through Smad and non-Smad pathways. TGF-β is a multifunctional cytokine that regulates a wide range of cell types, including epithelial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, neurons, lymphoid cells (such as T lymphocytes and NK cells), and other hematopoietic cells. It also plays a role in modulating activated macrophages and the development of regulatory T cells. Additionally, TGF-β is involved in immune function, tissue remodeling, and wound repair. There are five highly similar subtypes of TGF-β (TGF-β 1-5), with homology ranging from 70% to 80%. TGF-β1 is synthesized through proteolytic cleavage of a large precursor TGF-β1 peptide encoded by the TGFB1 gene, which produces the mature protein and latency-associated peptide (LAP). LAP and mature TGF-β1 bind non-covalently during secretion. TGF-β is broadly expressed by many cell types, including macrophages and platelets, which express high levels of TGF-β. TGF-β signaling has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, autoimmune diseases, asthma, heart disease, and diabetes. TGF-β gene knockout mice exhibit hematopoietic and endothelial cell differentiation defects and die from overwhelming inflammation, underscoring its importance.
