Background
Mrp4 protein, also known as multidrug resistance protein 4, is a member of the ATP - binding cassette (ABC) transporter family. It is an integral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in the efflux of various substances out of cells. Mrp4 can transport a wide range of substrates, including organic anions, nucleoside - derived metabolites, and certain drugs. This protein is expressed in multiple tissues such as the liver, kidneys, and intestines. Its function is important for maintaining cellular homeostasis by preventing the accumulation of potentially toxic substances within cells. Additionally, Mrp4 has implications in the pharmacokinetics of drugs, as it can influence the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of certain medications. In the context of disease, alterations in Mrp4 expression or function have been associated with drug resistance in cancer cells and may also be involved in the pathogenesis of some renal disorders.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney. Anti-Mrp4 antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
