Background
Bax is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family that localizes to the cytosol of healthy cells but, upon activation by developmental death cues or intracellular stress such as DNA damage, undergoes conformational change and translocates to the outer mitochondrial membrane where it oligomerizes to form pores that permeabilize the membrane, thereby releasing cytochrome c and other apoptogenic factors into the cytosol to trigger the caspase cascade and ultimately apoptosis.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney. Anti-Bax antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
