Background
TCR Vα2 is a distinct TCR subfamily found in mice with a, b, and c haplotypes. It is a variable region of the T cell receptor (TCR) that plays a crucial role in recognizing antigens bound to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. The TCR Vα2 subfamily is often expressed in both CD4 and CD8 subsets of T cells, although its expression can be skewed to CD8 cells when combined with certain TCR β-chain transgenes. It is also involved in the positive selection of CD8+ T cells in the thymus.
