Background

TOX protein is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in the immune system. It is involved in the regulation of T cell differentiation and function, particularly in the development and maintenance of regulatory T cells (Tregs) which are essential for maintaining immune tolerance and preventing autoimmunity. Additionally, TOX has been implicated in the response of T cells to chronic antigen stimulation, such as in the context of chronic infections or cancer, where it may contribute to T cell exhaustion. Its expression and activity can influence the balance between effector and regulatory T cell populations, thereby having a significant impact on the overall immune response.

Immunohistochemistry

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human thymus. Anti-TOX antibody was used at 1/250 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human tonsil.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human gastric cancer.
