Background
Prostate stem cell antigen (PSCA), a cell-membrane glycoprotein composed of 123 amino acids, is frequently expressed in prostate cancer. Mouse PSCA (mPSCA) exhibits 65% homology with human PSCA at both the nucleotide and amino acid levels. The knockdown of PSCA has been shown to induce epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and to reduce the metastatic potential of DU145 cells, indicating a significant role for PSCA in the carcinogenesis and progression of prostate cancer.
