Background
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) envelope protein 2 (E2) plays a central role in viral pathogenesis. This key surface glycoprotein is responsible for receptor binding and facilitating viral entry into host cells. Structurally, E2 forms heterodimers with the E1 fusion protein, which then assemble into the trimeric spike complexes on the viral surface. Given that E2 harbors the virus's principal neutralizing epitopes, it represents a prime candidate antigen for the rational design of vaccines and serological diagnostic assays
