Background
Phospho-serine and phospho-threonine are crucial post-translational modifications where a phosphate group is covalently attached to the hydroxyl side chain of specific serine or threonine residues within a protein. This phosphorylation event, primarily catalyzed by enzymes known as kinases, dramatically alters the protein's properties by introducing a bulky, negatively charged group.
