Background

Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a key antibody isotype central to allergic hypersensitivity and antiparasitic immunity. Structurally, IgE is a monomeric Y-shaped glycoprotein composed of two ε-heavy chains and two light chains (κ or λ), stabilized by disulfide bonds.
