Background
Granzyme K is a serine protease stored in the cytotoxic granules of CD8⁺ T cells and NK cells that, upon perforin-mediated entry into target cells, cleaves the nucleosome-assembly factor SET and the DNA damage-response factor Ku70 to trigger caspase-independent nuclear condensation, mitochondrial perturbation, and rapid cell death, thereby amplifying antiviral and antitumor immunity.
