Background
BATF3 (Basic Leucine Zipper ATF-Like Transcription Factor 3) is a 21 kDa bZIP-family nuclear protein that heterodimerizes with Jun proteins to orchestrate development of CD8α⁺ and CD103⁺ conventional dendritic cells, enabling antigen cross-presentation to CD8⁺ T cells and IL-12 production during infection, while also promoting CD8⁺ T-cell memory formation and Th9 IL-9 production, and it can negatively regulate AP-1 transcription and innate p38 MAPK signaling to balance immune responses.
