Background
SLC25A51, also known as MCART1, is a mammalian mitochondrial NAD+ transporter that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism and energy production. Located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, it facilitates the transport of NAD+ into mitochondria, which is essential for maintaining mitochondrial NAD+/NADH ratios and supporting mitochondrial respiration. SLC25A51 is involved in various cellular processes, including the regulation of the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway and proline synthesis, which are critical for cell proliferation. Additionally, its expression is regulated by fasting and circadian rhythms, and it is necessary for sustaining the activity of the mitochondrial deacetylase SIRT3. Recent studies have also shown that SLC25A51 is upregulated in various cancers and promotes tumor growth by maintaining mitochondrial acetylation homeostasis.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney. Anti-SLC25A51 antibody was used at 1/250 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
