Flow cytometric analysis of Human CD181 expression on human peripheral blood Leukocytes. Human peripheral blood Leukocytes were stained with either Alexa Fluor® 488 Mouse IgG2b, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 488 Mouse Anti-Human CD181 Antibody (Right panel) at 5 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.

Background
CD181, also known as CXCR1, is a 67–70 kDa G-protein-coupled receptor that selectively binds the chemokine interleukin-8 (IL-8) and mediates rapid neutrophil activation, chemotaxis and respiratory burst through Gαi-triggered calcium flux and phospholipase D signaling; expressed on granulocytes, NK cells, monocytes, endothelial cells and oligodendrocytes, it functions as a homodimer or heterodimer with CD182 (CXCR2), and its sustained up-regulation has been implicated in systemic lupus erythematosus-associated hemolytic anemia and other inflammatory disorders.
