Background

Uteroglobin, also known as secretoglobin 1A1 or blastokinin, is a small, 70–77 amino acid, disulfide-linked homodimeric protein that is secreted by the Clara (non-ciliated bronchiolar exocrine) cells of the pulmonary airways, the epithelial cells of the endometrium and the prostate, and is found in high concentrations in the uterine fluid of rabbits and other mammals during early pregnancy, where it functions as a potent anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and anti-fibrotic agent by binding and sequestering hydrophobic ligands such as phospholipids, prostaglandins, and the lipid-derived aldehyde 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal, thereby protecting tissues from oxidative, allergic, and inflammatory damage, and has been implicated in the regulation of blastocyst implantation, angiogenesis, and tumor suppression through its ability to inhibit the transcription factor NF-κB and to prevent the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, making it a promising therapeutic target for respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, and neoplastic diseases.

Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human cerebral cortex. Anti-Uteroglobin antibody was used at 1/2000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
