Background
Soluble TROP2 (soluble trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2) is the shed extracellular domain of the transmembrane protein TROP2, typically released from tumor cells via ADAM10 protease cleavage. It is highly expressed in various epithelial cancers, where its detection in serum or plasma is used as a potential diagnostic marker. Produced by the cleavage of membrane-bound TROP2 by ADAM10 at the R87-T88 site, which acts as an activator switch for cancer growth. oluble TROP2 is involved in regulating cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and metastatic spread. High levels of TROP2 (both membrane-bound and shed) are associated with poor prognosis and tumor progression in cancers such as breast, lung, pancreatic, and colorectal cancer.
