Background
TGFBI (Transforming Growth Factor Beta-Induced), also known as βig-H3, is an extracellular matrix protein that plays a critical role in cell adhesion, bone formation, and wound healing. Clinically, it is best known for its association with hereditary corneal dystrophies, where mutations lead to abnormal protein accumulation in the eye. In cancer biology, TGFBI exhibits a context-dependent dual role: it can act as a tumor suppressor in early stages by enhancing chemotherapy sensitivity, but often functions as a tumor promoter in established tumors by facilitating metastasis and cell survival.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney. Anti-TGFBI / BIGH3 antibody was used at 1/500 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
