Background
StAR (Steroidogenic Acute Regulatory) protein is a 37-kDa mitochondrial phosphoprotein that catalyzes the rate-limiting step in steroid hormone biosynthesis by ferrying cholesterol from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane; upon tropic hormone stimulation its N-terminal 25-amino-acid mitochondrial targeting sequence is cleaved to yield the 30-kDa mature form, and mutations in the STAR gene cause the potentially fatal lipoid congenital adrenal hyperplasia in humans.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human testis. Anti-StAR antibody was used at 1/500 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human adrenal gland.
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human pheochromocytoma.
Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
