Background
SFRP1 (Secreted Frizzled-Related Protein 1) is a 313-amino-acid, cysteine-rich antagonist of Wnt signaling that is secreted into the extracellular space where it binds Wnt ligands and Frizzled receptors to modulate β-catenin–dependent and –independent pathways, thereby regulating embryonic segmentation, eye, heart and bone development, as well as adult tissue homeostasis, while its epigenetic or mutational silencing in cancers removes this brake on Wnt signaling and drives tumor progression, invasion and metastasis.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney. Anti-SFRP1 antibody was used at 1/200 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
