Background
IFNA13, or Interferon Alpha-13, is a member of the type I interferon (IFN) family, a group of cytokines crucial for innate immunity against viral infections. It signals through the shared IFNAR1/IFNAR2 receptor complex to activate the JAK-STAT pathway. This leads to the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) that establish an antiviral state in cells. IFNA13 is implicated in the early immune response. Research suggests its expression and potential roles may vary in different pathological contexts, including viral diseases and certain cancers, warranting further investigation into its unique biological activities.
