Background

Rat IFN-γ (Interferon gamma) is a multifunctional cytokine primarily produced by activated T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells. It plays a crucial role in the immune response, exhibiting antiviral, antitumor, and immunoregulatory activities. Rat IFN-γ exists as a homodimer with a molecular weight of approximately 15.6 kDa and is highly species-specific. It upregulates the expression of MHC class I and II molecules, enhances macrophage activation, and promotes the secretion of immunoglobulins by B cells. The protein is also involved in cytokine regulation and acts synergistically with other cytokines. Rat IFN-γ is used in research for studying immune responses and related diseases.
