Flow cytometric analysis of C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes labelling Mouse LPAM-1 antibody at 1/200 dilution (1 μg) / (Right panel) compared with a Rat IgG2a, κ Isotype Control / (Left panel). Background
LPAM-1 (Lymphocyte Peyer’s patch Adhesion Molecule-1), also designated integrin α4β7, is a 150/130 kDa heterodimeric surface glycoprotein of the integrin immunoglobulin superfamily that is constitutively expressed on naive T and B cells, up-regulated on gut-homing memory CD4⁺ T cells and IgA-secreting plasma cells by retinoic acid, and serves as the principal homing receptor mediating rolling and firm adhesion of these leukocytes to mucosal vascular addressin MAdCAM-1 on high endothelial venules of Peyer’s patches and intestinal lamina propria, thereby orchestrating their trans-endothelial migration into gut-associated lymphoid tissues during both steady-state immune surveillance and inflammatory bowel diseases, and can also engage VCAM-1 and fibronectin to support lymphocyte trafficking and retention.
