Background
CD122, also known as interleukin-2 receptor beta (IL-2Rβ), is a 75 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as the shared signaling subunit for the IL-2, IL-7 and IL-15 cytokine receptors; upon ligand binding it heterodimerizes with IL-2Rγc to activate JAK1/JAK3–STAT5, PI3K–AKT and MAPK pathways that drive survival, proliferation and cytolytic programs in T, B, NK and memory T cells, making it a central regulator of both lymphocyte homeostasis and potent target for immunotherapies against cancer and autoimmunity.
