Background

Placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP) is a 58 KDa enzyme. PLAP becomes expressed in the maturing placenta with steadily raising levels during pregnancy. In some reproductive system tumors, gastrointestinal tumors, and lung cancer, it can also be used as a carcinoma antigen. The antibody is mainly used for the diagnosis of human seminoma and dysgerminomaofovary.

Immunohistochemistry

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human placenta. Anti-PLAP+ALPI antibody was used at 1/500 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human tonsil.

Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human stomach.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human seminoma.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human gastric cancer.
