Background
Phospho-Tuberin (T1462) refers to the phosphorylation of Tuberin, also known as TSC2 (Tuberous Sclerosis Complex 2), at the threonine residue 1462. This post-translational modification is significant in the regulation of the Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, which plays a crucial role in cellular energy response pathways. Tuberin is a tumor suppressor that forms a complex with TSC1, inhibiting the mTORC1 pathway, which is a central nutrient sensor promoting cellular growth and biomass generation. Phosphorylation at T1462 is one of the modifications that can affect Tuberin's function and its interaction with TSC1. This phosphorylation event is stimulated by various growth factors and is mediated through the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt pathway.
