Background

Pepsinogen (PG) is the precursor of pepsin and is composed of five hypotypes: pepsinogen A (PGA), pepsinogen B (PGB), pepsinogen C (PGC), pepsinogen F (PGF) and chymosinogen [PMID: 28546787]. Pepsinogen C, also known as progastricsin or PG II, is an aspartic protease expressed primarily in gastric chief cells [PMID: 14578117].

Immunohistochemistry

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human stomach. Anti-PG II/PGC antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human liver.
