Background

CD8β is a protein that, along with CD8α, forms the CD8 co - receptor complex on the surface of cytotoxic T cells. This complex plays a crucial role in the immune response by facilitating the interaction between cytotoxic T cells and antigen - presenting cells. CD8β helps stabilize the binding of the T cell receptor to MHC class I molecules on the antigen - presenting cell, thereby enhancing the specificity and efficiency of the T cell - mediated immune response. This interaction is essential for the activation of cytotoxic T cells, which can then target and destroy infected or malignant cells.

Flow cytometric analysis of mouse CD8β expression on C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes. C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes were stained with Alexa Fluor® 647 Rat Anti-Mouse CD8a Antibody and either Pacific blue Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (left panel) or SDT Pacific blue Rat Anti-Mouse CD8β Antibody (right panel) at 2 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using Agilent NovoCyte Quanteon and FlowJo™ software.
