Background
Ovalbumin (OVA) is the predominant protein found in egg white, constituting approximately 54% of its total protein content, and serves as a widely utilized model system in biochemistry and immunology due to its well-characterized structure and stability. As a member of the serpin (serine protease inhibitor) superfamily, ovalbumin possesses a unique tertiary structure comprising three β-sheets and eight α-helices, although it has evolved to lose its ancestral protease inhibitory activity, distinguishing it from other functional serpins. Immunocytochemistry
ICC shows positive staining in chicken Ovalbumin vector transfected 293F cells (top panel) and negative staining in vector-transfected 293F cells (below panel). Anti-Ovalbumin antibody was used at 1/500 dilution (Green) and incubated overnight at 4°C. Goat polyclonal Antibody to Rabbit IgG - H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) was used as secondary antibody at 1/1000 dilution. The cells were fixed with 100% ice-cold methanol and permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Triton X-100. Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (Blue). Counterstain with tubulin (Red).
