Background
NF-kB p65 (acetyl K310) is the acetylated form of the p65 (RelA) subunit of the NF-κB transcription factor complex, wherein lysine 310 is acetylated primarily by the histone acetyltransferases CBP/p300, a modification that boosts its transcriptional activity without enhancing DNA binding or weakening IκB association; this acetylation, often preceded by phosphorylation at Ser 536 or Ser 276, recruits the bromodomain protein BRD4 to amplify expression of NF-κB-dependent inflammatory and immune genes, is reversed by HDAC3 and SIRT2 deacetylases to terminate signaling, and is dynamically regulated in physiology and diseases such as cancer, chronic inflammation and infection.
