Background

Myoglobin is an iron-containing, oxygen-binding protein found primarily in the skeletal and cardiac muscles of vertebrates. Functioning as an intracellular oxygen reservoir, it stores oxygen and facilitates its rapid delivery to mitochondria during periods of intense muscle activity or oxygen deprivation. With a higher affinity for oxygen than hemoglobin, myoglobin plays a vital role in sustaining aerobic respiration and muscle endurance.

Immunohistochemistry

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human cardiac muscle. Anti-Myoglobin antibody was used at 1/2000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
