Background

Mouse IgG is a monomeric (~150 kDa) immunoglobulin composed of two γ heavy chains (~50–53 kDa, subclass-dependent) paired with two light chains (~25 kDa). It comprises four subclasses—IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, and IgG3—with distinct hinge regions and effector functions. Produced by plasma cells following class switching, it dominates the secondary antibody response and constitutes ~80% of total serum Ig. Mouse IgG mediates opsonization, neutralization, ADCC via Fcγ receptor engagement, and classical complement activation with subclass-specific efficiency. Its stability, long half-life, and placental transfer support passive immunity, while membrane-bound mIgG on memory B cells enables rapid recall responses.
