Background

Mouse CCL17 protein, also known as Thymus and Activation-Regulated Chemokine (TARC), is a small inducible cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family that plays a pivotal role in immune regulation by selectively attracting CCR4-expressing cells, particularly Th2 lymphocytes, regulatory T cells, and dendritic cells, to sites of inflammation or secondary lymphoid organs. Structurally characterized by its conserved cysteine motifs, this chemokine is primarily produced by dendritic cells, macrophages, and endothelial cells upon stimulation with pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-4 or TNF-alpha, thereby facilitating the recruitment of specific immune subsets involved in allergic responses, asthma pathogenesis, and anti-tumor immunity. In murine models, Mouse CCL17 serves as a critical mediator in the development of Th2-dominated immune reactions, contributing to both protective immunity against certain pathogens and the exacerbation of inflammatory diseases, making it a significant target for understanding immunological mechanisms and developing therapeutic interventions for allergic and autoimmune conditions.
