Background
Monkey Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a pivotal CXC chemokine in non-human primates, functionally conserved and serving as the primary chemoattractant and activator for neutrophils during innate immune responses. It is rapidly released in response to inflammatory stimuli such as infection or injury, directing neutrophil migration, adhesion, and antimicrobial activity to the affected site. This protein is also involved in angiogenesis, influencing both wound healing and pathological processes. Due to its high biological similarity to human IL-8, it is an indispensable translational biomarker in biomedical research, extensively utilized to assess inflammation, evaluate drug safety, study infectious diseases, and develop vaccines in preclinical primate models.
