Background

Mammaglobin-A is a novel breast cancer-associated antigen that was initially identified using a differential screening approach. Subsequently, it has been demonstrated that MGBA has several unique properties which make it a promising target for immune therapy. Gene expression analysis of over 20 different human tissues demonstrated that MGBA is expressed almost exclusively in normal breast epithelium and breast cancer. MGBA is over expressed in up to 80% of primary and metastatic breast cancers.

Immunohistochemistry

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human breast carcinoma. Anti-Mammaglobin A antibody was used at 1/250 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
