Background
Lysozyme is a small, ubiquitous enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of β-1,4-glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine in bacterial peptidoglycan, thereby weakening the cell wall and leading to osmotic lysis; it is abundant in tears, saliva, egg white, and other secretions, serving as a front-line innate immune defense against Gram-positive bacteria, and has been extensively studied since Alexander Fleming’s isolation in 1922, becoming a model system for protein folding, enzyme kinetics, and X-ray crystallography while finding applications in food preservation, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human small intestine. Anti-Lysozyme antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human skeletal muscle. Anti-Lysozyme antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin.
