Background
K562 is a highly studied human erythroleukemia cell line derived from a patient with chronic myelogenous leukemia in blast crisis. It is a model cell line for hematopoiesis, leukemia research, and immunology, frequently used in studies of: BCR-ABL signaling (Philadelphia chromosome positive). Erythroid and megakaryocytic differentiation. NK cell and cytotoxic T-cell mediated killing assays. Epigenetic and drug resistance studies. This lysate serves as an excellent positive control for Western blotting and other immunoassays.
