Background
IRGQ (Immunity-related GTPase family Q protein) is a newly recognized autophagy receptor that orchestrates quality control of MHC class I molecules by binding to the autophagy proteins GABARAPL2 and LC3B, thereby routing misfolded MHC-I heavy chains to lysosomal degradation; its absence allows these defective chains to accumulate and reach the cell surface, enhancing CD8⁺ T cell responses and improving survival in hepatocellular carcinoma models, and IRGQ is also implicated in Alzheime’s pathogenesis and exhibits broad cytoplasmic/nuclear expression across human tissues.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human cerebral cortex. Anti-IRGQ antibody was used at 1/200 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
