Background
VEGF-A (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A) is a critical signaling protein that plays a central role in angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels from existing ones—by stimulating endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and vascular permeability, primarily through binding to its receptors VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2 on endothelial cells, and is essential for normal physiological processes such as wound healing and embryonic development, while its dysregulation is implicated in pathological conditions including cancer, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration.
