Background
INSM1 (Insulinoma-associated 1) is a 58 kDa zinc-finger transcription factor transiently expressed during embryogenesis in neuroendocrine tissues, pancreas and nervous system, where it drives differentiation by repressing progenitor genes such as Ascl1 and NeuroD/β2 while promoting cell-cycle exit, and later in life its re-expression in neuroendocrine tumors sustains oncogenesis through feed-forward loops that stabilize MYC proteins and activate PI3K/AKT signaling.

Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
