Background
Interleukin 3 (IL - 3) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a crucial role in the regulation of hematopoiesis. It is primarily produced by activated T cells and mast cells. IL - 3 can stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of various hematopoietic cells, including myeloid, erythroid, and megakaryocytic progenitor cells. It acts by binding to its specific receptor, which is mainly expressed on the surface of hematopoietic cells. This binding activates a series of intracellular signaling pathways, promoting cell growth and survival. IL - 3 also has immunomodulatory functions, such as enhancing the activity of natural killer cells and macrophages. In addition, it is involved in the inflammatory response and tissue repair processes. Abnormal expression or function of IL - 3 has been associated with certain hematological disorders and immune - related diseases.
