Background

IGFBP-1 is a secreted protein encoded by the IGFBP1 gene located on chromosome 7 in humans. It is a member of the insulin-like growth factor binding protein family, which consists of six high-affinity binding proteins (IGFBP-1 to -6).
Human IGFBP-1 has evolved from being viewed as a passive IGF carrier to being recognized as a dynamic, multifunctional protein with significant IGF-independent biological activities. Its primary research utility lies in its role as a sensitive biomarker for hepatic insulin sensitivity and pregnancy-related conditions. Industrially, it is harnessed for diagnostic immunoassays and explored as a novel therapeutic target. Future research is likely to further dissect its tissue-specific roles and translational potential in metabolic, bone, and neoplastic diseases.

Picture

Bioactivity

Measured by its ability to inhibit the biological activity of IGF-I or IGF-II on MCF‑7 human breast cancer cells. The ED50 for this effect is 44-139 ng/mL in the presence of 6 ng/mL recombinant human IGF-I

SDS-PAGE

2μg (R: reducing condition, N: non-reducing condition).

SEC-HPLC

>95% as determined by SEC-HPLC.

RP-HPLC

>95% as determined by RP-HPLC.

ELISA

Immobilized IGFBP-1 Protein, Human (Cat. No. UA040519) at 2.0μg/mL (100μL/well) can bind IGF-I Protein, Human (Cat. No. UA040520) with EC50 of 11.93-16.50ng/mL.
