Background
CD119 (also known as IFNGR1) is the alpha-chain ligand-binding receptor for interferon-gamma, belonging to the type II cytokine receptor family. Its structure comprises two fibronectin type-III domains and two immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains. Together with IFNGR2, it forms a functional heterodimeric receptor, typically with two receptor molecules binding one IFNγ dimer. This receptor mediates signals from interferon-gamma produced by activated T lymphocytes, triggering antiviral activity, inhibition of cell proliferation, and broad immunoregulatory functions in various cell types. Deficiency in its function is associated with certain primary immunodeficiency disorders and holds significant clinical relevance in infection immunity, tumor immunity, and autoimmune diseases.
