Human Tau (phospho T181) refers to the Human Tau protein specifically phosphorylated at the threonine residue in position 181. This particular post-translational modification is a critical epitope in the study of Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. In a pathological context, the hyperphosphorylation of Tau at sites like Thr181 reduces its affinity for microtubules, contributing to cytoskeletal destabilization and promoting the protein's aggregation into neurofibrillary tangles.
