Background

Gamma Tubulin is a crucial protein involved in microtubule nucleation. It is a member of the tubulin family but has distinct functions compared to alpha and beta tubulin. Gamma Tubulin is a key component of the gamma Tubulin ring complex (γ-TuRC), which is essential for the formation of microtubules. This complex is typically localized at the centrosome, the main microtubule organizing center in animal cells. By binding to other proteins and providing a template for the polymerization of alpha and beta tubulin dimers, gamma Tubulin initiates the growth of microtubules. It plays a vital role in various cellular processes such as mitosis, where it helps in the formation of the mitotic spindle, ensuring proper chromosome segregation. Additionally, gamma Tubulin is also involved in the organization of the cytoskeleton in interphase cells, contributing to cell shape maintenance and intracellular transport. Its proper function is critical for normal cell division and overall cellular architecture.

Immunohistochemistry

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human testis. Anti-gamma Tubulin antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Negative control: IHC shows negative staining in paraffin-embedded human testis.
