Background

CD301b, also known as MGL2 (macrophage galactose N-acetyl-galactosamine–specific lectin 2), is a type II transmembrane C-type lectin that serves as a phenotypic marker for a distinct subset of skin-migratory dendritic cells and alternatively activated macrophages; it preferentially binds terminal N-acetylgalactosamine residues such as the Tn antigen, is essential for transporting protein antigens to draining lymph nodes, critically instructs the priming and differentiation of naïve CD4⁺ T cells toward a T-helper-2 phenotype, and uses high constitutive expression of PD-L1 to exert a dominant inhibitory control over T-follicular-helper and germinal-centre B-cell responses, thereby shaping the magnitude and quality of antibody-mediated immunity.

Flow cytometric analysis of Mouse CD301b expression on C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes. C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes were stained with PE Rat Anti-Mouse CD11c antibody and either FITC Rat IgG2a, κ Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT FITC Rat Anti-Mouse CD301b Antibody (Right panel) at 5 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.
