Background
Ferritin Light Chain (FTL) is a critical component of the ferritin complex, which is essential for iron homeostasis. It stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic form and facilitates its delivery to cells. Structurally, FTL, along with heavy subunits, forms a spherical shell that allows iron entry through pores. Mutations in the C-terminus can disrupt pore formation, impacting iron accumulation. FTL plays a significant role in kidney development by mediating iron uptake in capsule cells, which is crucial for organogenesis.

Immunohistochemistry
IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human colon. Anti-Ferritin Light Chain antibody was used at 1/4000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
