Background
ENO1 (Alpha-enolase) is a ubiquitous glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate. Beyond its canonical metabolic role, ENO1 functions as a multifunctional "moonlighting" protein: when expressed on the cell surface, it acts as a plasminogen receptor involved in fibrinolysis, cell migration, and tumor invasion. Clinically, ENO1 is frequently overexpressed in various cancers and serves as a valuable biomarker for tumor progression and autoimmune diseases.
