Background
Dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS) is a polymer of anhydrous glucose, one of the most common and effective drugs used for construction of animal model of colitis. It is also a potent and selective inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), which can suppress the replication of the human immunodeficiency virus. Additionally, Dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS) is used in combination with insulin, encapsulated in nanoparticles, serving as an insulin carrier that interacts with insulin receptors to achieve slow release of insulin and prolong insulin activity.
