Background
The CLEC7A gene in cynomolgus macaque (Macaca fascicularis) encodes a Dectin-1 protein highly homologous to its human counterpart. According to the KEGG pathway database, the cynomolgus macaque CLEC7A gene is designated with the identifier 103218570, and the encoded protein is classified as a C-type lectin receptor family member.
Structural and Functional Homology: As a non-human primate model, cynomolgus macaque Dectin-1 is highly conserved in structure and function with the human protein. It is a type II transmembrane receptor with an extracellular C-type lectin-like domain and a cytoplasmic ITAM motif. This receptor recognizes pathogen-derived β-glucans, activates downstream signaling cascades, induces inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, and triggers innate and adaptive immune responses against pathogens
