Background
CD6 (Cluster of Differentiation 6) is a cell-surface glycoprotein of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich superfamily that acts as both a costimulatory molecule and an adhesion receptor during T-cell activation. It is expressed on thymocytes, mature T cells, B-1 B cells, and certain brain cells, and anti-CD6 monoclonal antibodies can enhance T-cell proliferation when combined with accessory cells, PMA, or anti-CD2 mAb.
