IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human cerebral cortex. Anti-CD239 antibody was used at 1/250 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Background
CD239 protein is a specific structural protein that contains five extracellular globulin domains, a transmembrane region, and a short C-terminal cytoplasmic tail. This protein may play an important role in certain biological processes, such as epithelial cell carcinoma and vaso-occlusive events in sickle cell disease erythrocytes. In terms of genetic polymorphism, CD239 defines some antigens in the Lutheran and Auberger systems. Additionally, two transcriptional variants encoding different isoforms of this gene have been identified, demonstrating its complexity in gene expression.

Immunofluorescence
IF shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney. Anti-CD239 antibody was used at 1/250 dilution (Green) and incubated overnight at 4°C. Goat polyclonal Antibody to Rabbit IgG - H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) was used as secondary antibody at 1/1000 dilution. Counterstained with DAPI (Blue). Heat mediated antigen retrieval with EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IF staining protocol.
